Job Description:


Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking and many other activities.

The College Recruiter plans and executes outreach and recruitment activities for the College. Identifies and participates in outreach and recruitment activities within the service area and cultivates strong relationships with prospective students with a special emphasis on underserved populations and students interested in career and technical education programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends and seeks active participation in all applicable college fairs in service areas
  • Attends outreach and community events, festivals and showcases in service area
  • Schedules and conducts high school visits and enrollment events at each high school in service area
  • Identifies and conducts outreach to non-traditional populations in service area
  • Oversees student employees and volunteers and provides appropriate training
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships by counseling prospective applicants on the admissions process, academic programs ad other opportunities
  • Maintains ongoing strategic communications with secondary school guidance counselors, independent counselors and other representatives
  • Sets strategic enrollment goals and demonstrates results

  • Ability to travel within service area for recruitment purposes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues
  • Ability to oversee the works of student employees and volunteers
